3 Vampire Diaries Stars Guest Starred on Teen Wolf, and No One Noticed
Obvious Similarities Mean Little.
The Vampire Diaries was a highly popular supernatural teen drama that stayed on the air for eight seasons and featured a huge cast of characters. Thus, a TVD fan is bound to see familiar faces in other shows as time passes. However, as it turns out, some faces are more difficult to spot than others.
For instance, three actors from TVD also appeared in Teen Wolf, but hardly anyone noticed. Why, you might ask?
Nobody Pays Attention to the Victim of the Week
Daphne was a minor character in TVD, a woman whose sole role in the plot was bumping into freshly-turned Logan Fell while jogging and getting killed by him. She was played by Melissa Ponzio.
On Teen Wolf, Ponzio had a much bigger and more memorable role as Melissa McCall, the main character's mother. By contrast, her TVD contribution was so insignificant that even the most hard-core fans would struggle to remember her in it.
Badasses of the Week Hardly Fare Any Better
Bianca Lawson appeared in numerous TV series. The problem is that all her TV appearances were of the single-episode variety until Queen Sugar. On TVD, she played Emily Bennett, a moderately important ancestor of the Bennett family from the 19th century who got betrayed and sent to her death by one of the show's main villains.
Her Teen Wolf character, Marin Morell, is far more impressive in concept, an emissary of the dreaded Alpha pack, a druid, and an all-around badass. The thing is, though, she only appears once in Season 3, never to be seen again. As a result, even people who compile lists of various TV series characters often forget about her.
Obvious Similarities but Forgettable Characters
Susan Walters had recurring roles on TVD (Carol Lockwood) and Teen Wolf (Natalie Martin). Unfortunately, both of those roles are easy to forget.
Natalie is Lydia Martin's mother, but unlike Melissa McCall, she does not actively get involved in the supernatural adventures of her child, except as a target for the villains.
In fact, for a long time, she refuses to acknowledge the existence of the supernatural. Carol Lockwood also happens to be the mother of one of the main characters in her series - and she does try to get involved in Tyler Lockwood's supernatural adventures. Regrettably, that does not go well for her, and she gets killed by one of the major villains as a way to get back at her son.
Theoretically, that should be a big deal - yet many TVD fans barely remember her existence, let alone draw parallels with a similar character from a different show.
