11 Years After Fan-Favorite The Guest, Its Star Is All In on a Sequel

Dan Stevens hasn’t given up on The Guest 2, keeping hopes for a sequel to the cult thriller very much alive. The star remains eager to return if the project gets the nod.
Dan Stevens still wants to suit up for a sequel to The Guest. Eleven years after that beautifully nasty little thriller hit theaters, he says he is game — with one big caveat: the clock on his action-hero physique is ticking.
"I am very willing. I am very willing, although I will say, time is running out for me to be in the shape that David was in ten years ago. So we would better make it soon; otherwise, it is going to be tricky. As to how likely it is to happen, I do not know."

Quick refresher: what The Guest was doing
Released in 2014 and directed by Adam Wingard, The Guest cast Stevens as David, a soldier who shows up at the home of a family grieving their son, claiming he was the late soldier's friend from their time in Afghanistan. They invite him to stick around as long as he wants. Then the local body count starts to rise, and the family begins to wonder if their polite houseguest might be the common denominator.
It lost money at the box office, but critics and genre fans loved it, which is why people have been asking about a sequel ever since.
So is a sequel actually happening?
Short answer: maybe, but do not hold your breath. Stevens says he is up for it, but also says he has no idea how likely it is to materialize. Translation: someone needs to lock a script and a schedule soon, or this stays in the wishful-thinking pile.
Stevens and Wingard have kept busy together
- The Guest (2014): their first team-up, the one that started the cult following.
- Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024): they reunited for last year's monster mash.
- Onslaught (upcoming): their next collaboration is an action-horror led by a mother fighting to protect her family after a mysterious threat escapes a military base. The cast includes Adria Arjona, Rebecca Hall, and Drew Starkey.
What you will see Stevens in next
He is set to return to MonsterVerse mayhem in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
