With twenty-seven movies in total, the James Bond franchise is arguably the largest, longest-running, most successful, most recognisable, and most popular in the world. Between 1962 and 2021, the Bond movies made over $20 billion in box office revenue and starred many world-famous actors as its titular character.
The latest 007, Daniel Craig, retired from the role after his final movie, No Time to Die (2021), leaving the spot open. Naturally, discussions about potential successors have been ongoing ever since. We've compiled a list of the most likely candidates for the iconic role.
Michael Fassbender (5.47%)
Famous for portraying Magneto in the Marvel Mutants cycle, the forty-six-year-old has vast acting experience in big-ticket Hollywood blockbusters and quirky arthouse films.
Richard Madden (5.6%)
At just thirty-six, Richard has already appeared in a slew of projects ranging from Game of Thrones to Marvel's Eternals. Plus, if he were cast as James Bond, the 007 would once again be speaking with a Scottish accent.
Callum Turner (5.75%)
At just thirty-three, Callum has a recurring supporting role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise and has appeared in numerous other movies and TV shows.
Luke Evans (7.61%)
This Welsh actor is forty-four and is known for roles in the Hobbit and Fast & Furious franchises. Another major franchise would be right up his alley.
Idris Elba (9%)
Despite insisting he's not interested in the role, this fifty-year-old British actor still makes the list because his agent did convince him to appear in Marvel's Thor franchise and the Dark Tower movie.
Tom Hardy (10%)
At forty-five, Tom has starred in a multitude of films, the most famous of which are perhaps Mad Max: Fury Road and the Venom movies.
Regé-Jean Page (14.29%)
The thirty-three-year-old actor shot to fame after portraying the extremely popular Duke of Hastings in the first season of Bridgerton on Netflix and has since appeared in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Henry Cavill (26.6%)
This thirty-nine-year-old is best known as Superman and the Witcher. He kicks off the top three of our list.

The thirty-two-year-old has starred in a lot of action movies, including several Marvel films and, most importantly, The King's Man spy action franchise. He’s everyone’s second choice for the role.

Our thirty-seven-year-old frontrunner has appeared in numerous projects, including Little Women, BBC's McMafia, and 2022's movie Rogue Agent. He’s currently seen as the most likely candidate for the 007 spot.
